Learning by doing

This advertising postcard was available in Frankfurt am Main as part of the free postcard based marketing services available in many bars, cafés and restaurants. This one stuck out of the postcard rack, being on display not too far from the infamous Frankfurt red light district. However, no personal erotic service was on offer. Thje card advertised the postcard advertising agency, claiming the effectiveness of postcard advertising.

I can't remember any of the other cards containing actual ads.

Marketing condoms. invisibly.

Ever sice AIDS hit the TV screens in the 80ies, I wondered how people expected AIDS awarness campaigns to work. Due to moral, religious or other restrictions, neither sex nor condoms and their proper use could be put on display. The resulting campaigns were most likely among the least effective campaigns in advertising history.

If this ad really helped? At least, it is breaking the 'no sex' taboo. But where did you look first?

Alice? Who the f... is Alice?

A remarkably long-lasting "sex sells DSL" effort was made by Hansenet in Germany. The so-cute-it-hurts photo model posing in ads and on posters all over - with a complete absense of the product. Do I really have to mention that the campaign had less clothes on the model the longer it went? Check the image... the brown dress was the 1st launch... the "nothing but red (Duct?) tape" came later.

It is yet unknown how many teenage males signed up with Alice for flat-rate downloading of everything a male teen needs to survive the day.

The 5th mobile element

Ever since the 5th element got Duct tape out of the SM corner, and into the fashion world, advertisers seem to have developed a preference for lolitas that are just a wrap of adhesive tape away from what looks like child pornography. So did well-known mobile phone producer Motorola in 2006. How many pedophiles fell for that phone model? It even came with a VGA camera!

Oh yeah, please pay me, baby!

This ad is another example of hard-sellig when the concept just doesn't work. Does anyone remember "mobile payment" on mobile phones? Well, it didn't kick off, even after T-Mobile got into the sheets with prime competitor Vodafone. So here comes... feminine anatomy ... last resort to save the project... I rest my case.

Boob creaming

Ah, Norway... now there is a version for anti-aegin-cosmetics of this blog's favorite theme...

Wiibrations 2

Same issue of T3 mag. Just in case the male crowd didn't get the Wii-brations on the title page. So this is the contents table on page 5.

Why do I have to think about spanish massage oil now?
